Sapporo Teine

Sapporo Teine is a historic ski resort that served as a venue for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, located on Mount Teine just 40 minutes from downtown Sapporo. The resort is divided into two distinct zones: the Highland Zone at the summit with challenging terrain and panoramic views, and the Olympia Zone lower down with gentler, family-friendly slopes. With 15 courses and 10 lifts, Teine offers a surprisingly complete skiing experience for a city resort.

The Highland Zone sits above 700 meters and offers stunning views of Sapporo city, Ishikari Bay, and the surrounding mountains. On clear days, you can see all the way to the Shakotan Peninsula. The resort receives approximately 8 meters of snow annually, with the higher elevations maintaining excellent powder conditions. Night skiing is available on the Olympia Zone, making Teine a perfect after-work skiing option for Sapporo residents and an easy day trip for visitors to the city.
